Terms of Service

These Terms govern use of Roaring Reads (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service is offered to adults (18+) acting as parents or carers. You are responsible for all activity under your account, including use by children you add.

You confirm that information you provide is accurate and that you have authority to manage any child profiles you create. See our Safeguarding page.

Roaring Reads helps families discuss books through curriculum-aligned Book Talks, library tools, vocabulary practice, and parent coaching reports. Features may change as we improve the product.

Free and Plus plans have different limits. Plan details shown in the app apply. We may adjust features with reasonable notice where practical.

Keep your login details and parent PIN confidential. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend accounts that appear compromised or abusive.

You agree not to:

• misuse the Service, attempt to break security, or overload our systems;
• upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing content;
• use the Service to generate or share content that exploits or endangers children;
• scrape, reverse engineer, or resell the Service except as allowed by law;
• use AI outputs as official school assessments or diagnostic conclusions.

Coaching tips and reports are educational support tools based on the answers entered in a Book Talk. They are not formal assessments, diagnoses, or substitutes for teacher judgement.

AI systems can be imperfect. Please review coaching suggestions before relying on them with your child.

Roaring Reads branding, software, and original content belong to us or our licensors. Book titles, covers, and publisher materials remain the property of their owners. You keep rights in content you submit; you grant us a licence to host and process it to operate the Service.

Plus is a paid subscription. Current pricing shown in the app is typically £5.99 per month or £49.99 per year (GBP), unless we display a different offer at checkout.

Payments are processed by Stripe. By upgrading, you also agree to Stripe’s terms for payers. Taxes may apply depending on your location.

• Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in the Stripe Customer Portal (Manage billing in the app) or by contacting us.
• Cancellation stops future renewals; access usually continues until the end of the paid period unless otherwise stated at purchase.
• Refunds are considered case-by-case in line with applicable UK consumer law and any policy we publish at checkout.

We aim for reliable availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance or update features.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made solely on AI coaching outputs.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account in Parent Settings (or request deletion by emailing hello@roaringreads.net). We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
